Kentucky manhunt enters third day as officers hack through thickets with machetes

A manhunt for a gunman in Kentucky entered its third day as officers searched rugged terrain for Joseph A. Couch, 32, who opened fire near Interstate 75 on Saturday, wounding five people.

Authorities recovered an AR-15 rifle and Couch’s SUV, but the suspect remains at large. The search area near London, Kentucky, is difficult to navigate, with officers using machetes to cut through dense woods.

The community has been advised to stay vigilant, and several schools canceled classes out of caution, Fox News has reported.

Couch, a former National Guard member, allegedly fired 20-30 rounds from a remote, elevated position, striking 12 vehicles.
