Libby Adame, 55, was convicted Thursday of second-degree murder and practicing medicine without certification in connection with the March 2024 death of 59-year-old Cindyana Santangelo in Malibu.
Santangelo died from a silicone embolism after injections to her buttocks, and Adame faces 15 years to life when sentenced on Nov. 5.
Adame had previously been convicted in March 2024, along with her daughter Alicia Galaz, of involuntary manslaughter for the 2019 death of 26-year-old Karissa Rajpaul from similar procedures.
Prosecutors argued Adame ignored warnings after her prior conviction and continued performing illegal procedures, while her defense claimed she did not administer the injections that caused Santangelo’s death, NBC News has reported.
Adame, known as “the butt lady,” has remained in custody since her May 12 arrest, and her lawyer contended she was only consulting for doctors legally performing injections in Mexico.
