Kash Patel said on a Fox News interview that the FBI has gathered material he claims supports President Donald Trump’s assertion that the 2020 election was stolen, but he said it is not ready to be publicly released due to an ongoing investigation.
He stated that the information is being handled with the United States Department of Justice and declined to provide details, urging viewers to “stay tuned.”
Patel’s comments come amid a separate report in The Atlantic alleging misconduct and drinking problems that have affected his leadership at the FBI.
He strongly denied those allegations and said he will file a defamation lawsuit against the publication, the Washington Times has reported.
Courts and election officials have previously rejected claims of widespread fraud that would have changed the outcome of the 2020 election.
