President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other officials were evacuated after shots were fired near the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at the Washington Hilton.

One suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, was arrested after allegedly attacking a Secret Service checkpoint with multiple weapons and exchanging gunfire with law enforcement.

Officials said he is believed to have acted alone and was taken to hospital after being subdued.

A Secret Service agent was also injured but later released from the hospital, NBC News has reported.

Authorities say the motive is still under investigation, though early findings suggest he may have been targeting government officials.
