Three die on Atlantic cruise ship from suspected hantavirus: WHO

Three people have died following an outbreak of illness on a cruise ship in the Atlantic, including one confirmed case of hantavirus, according to the WHO.

The outbreak occurred aboard the MV Hondius during a यात्रा from Argentina to Cape Verde, with six total suspected or confirmed cases.

Among those affected, one person remains in intensive care in South Africa while others are being monitored.

Health officials say hantavirus is typically spread through contact with infected rodents, though rare human-to-human transmission can occur and may lead to severe respiratory illness, the AFP has reported.

Authorities are coordinating evacuations, risk assessments, and containment efforts as the ship continues its journey.
