4 crew members eject safely after two Navy jets collide during air show in Idaho

Four crew members safely ejected after two U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler jets collided during an air show at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho on Sunday.

The aircraft were performing a demonstration when they made contact midair, spun together, and crashed, leading to a brief base lockdown and cancellation of the remainder of the event.

Officials said all pilots are in stable condition and no injuries were reported on the ground, while the cause of the collision is under investigation.

Spectators captured footage of parachutes deploying as the jets fell and exploded upon impact near the base, the AP has reported.

Aviation experts noted that both crews surviving is rare in midair collisions and may help investigators determine what went wrong.
