Arizona prisoner Leroy Dean McGill, 63, is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection for the 2002 killing of Charles Perez, marking one of three planned executions in the U.S. this week.
Prosecutors said McGill attacked Perez and his girlfriend by throwing gasoline and lighting them on fire after an argument in a Phoenix apartment.
Perez later died from his injuries, while the girlfriend survived but suffered severe burns and identified McGill at trial.
McGill was convicted of murder and other charges, and his appeals for resentencing and delay were rejected by courts, the AP has reported.
Arizona, which has resumed executions after past delays and controversy, currently has more than 100 inmates on death row.
