At least eight people, including four children, were injured in a July 4 shooting at a family barbecue in Coney Island, Brooklyn.
A 21-year-old woman was critically wounded, while the children, aged 6 to 14, suffered gunshot injuries but were reported in stable condition.
Police said a masked man opened fire without warning, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
Officials are also examining whether the attack is linked to a recent gang-related killing on the same block, the CBS News has reported.
New York City leaders condemned the violence and said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
