The U.S. military carried out a deadly strike against a vessel in the Eastern Pacific on Sunday, killing two people it identified as narco-terrorists.

The military said intelligence showed the low-profile vessel was actively involved in drug trafficking along established trafficking routes.

The strike was conducted by Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere under the direction of U.S. Southern Command commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan.

The operation is part of the Trump administration’s broader campaign against suspected drug-trafficking vessels, which has included dozens of similar strikes and sparked controversy, Fox News has reported.

Donovan said the military would continue targeting narco-trafficking networks to disrupt their operations and prevent illegal drugs from reaching U.S. communities.
