SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft carrying four Crew-13 astronauts successfully docked with the International Space Station on October 1.
NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk, and Russian cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov reached the station about 7 hours and 55 minutes after launch, setting a record for the fastest U.S. spacecraft launch-to-docking time at the ISS.
The crew opened the Dragon’s hatch at 9:19 p.m. EDT and officially joined the Expedition 75 crew already aboard the station.
Crew-13 will spend months conducting scientific research, including studies involving human tissues, plant growth, and astronaut health in microgravity, NASA has reported.
The mission continues NASA’s partnership with SpaceX to provide transportation to the ISS while supporting research and preparing technologies and experience for future missions to the Moon and Mars.
