9 shot outside bar in Kensington: Philadelphia police

Just before 11p.m. Saturday evening, nine peopler were shot outside a bar in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood, police reported. The shooting took place in the area of Kensington and Allegheny Avenues.

  • WPVI6 – Police say the gunmen exited a black-colored vehicle that was parked in the middle of the block and fired about 40 shots.
  • CBS NEWS – Two people are in critical condition and seven others were placed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital. Police believe there were multiple shooters involved. 
  • NBC10 – Philadelphia Police Department Inspector D.F. Pace said the victims were shot near Kensington and Allegheny avenues, adding that there are likely more victims than the initial nine.
  • NEW YORK POST – What happened leading up to the shooting wasn’t immediately clear, but First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford with the Philadelphia Police Department said it may have been targeted.
