On Friday, Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank were involved in an incident that resulted in the death of three Palestinians, including two militants.
This incident occurred shortly after Israel concluded a major two-day offensive aimed at suppressing militant activities.
The ongoing violence has raised concerns about the effectiveness of the recent raid in the Jenin refugee camp, during which Israel launched rare airstrikes on militant targets, deployed a large number of troops, and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, residences, and businesses.
The operation led to the deaths of twelve Palestinians and one Israeli soldier, the Associated Press has reported.
In the nearby city of Nablus, which serves as the commercial hub of the West Bank and has been a focal point of tension, two militants were killed in a gunfight with Israeli forces.
Israel’s Shin Bet security agency stated that these individuals were responsible for a recent shooting attack on a police vehicle.
Later that day, Palestinian health officials reported that a man was fatally shot in the chest by Israeli forces during a demonstration in Umm Safa, a town located in the central West Bank. The army did not immediately comment on the incident.
The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the deceased in Nablus as Khayri Mohammed Sari Shaheen, 34, and Hamza Moayed Mohammed Maqbool, 32.
Two militant groups, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, claimed that these individuals were their members.
In the aftermath of the gunbattle, the ground was scattered with bullet casings and stained with blood. Palestinians carried the bodies of the slain men to the hospital, chanting “God is great!” while gunshots echoed in the air.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant commended Friday’s operation and reiterated Israel’s determination to continue taking action to eliminate militants.
