Special counsel Jack Smith’s team has shown ongoing interest in a tumultuous Oval Office meeting that occurred in the final days of the Trump administration.

During this meeting, former President Donald Trump entertained desperate proposals to retain power, despite objections from his White House counsel.

According to multiple sources, investigators have questioned several witnesses before the grand jury and during interviews regarding the meeting, which took place approximately six weeks after Trump’s loss in the 2020 election, CNN reported.

Some witnesses were questioned about the meeting several months ago, while others have been more recently interviewed, including Rudy Giuliani.

Last month, Giuliani voluntarily participated in consecutive days of interviews with investigators, discussing various topics, including the December 2020 meeting that he attended.

Prosecutors have specifically focused on three external Trump advisors who were present at the meeting: former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne, as reported by sources.

In response to CNN’s reporting, Patrick Byrne tweeted on Friday morning, taking responsibility and offering his assistance, mentioning his eidetic memory and ability to provide intricate details about the meeting.

Giuliani’s lawyer, Robert Costello, declined to comment on the matter.

Lawyers for Sidney Powell and Patrick Byrne also refrained from providing comments, and CNN has reached out to an attorney representing Michael Flynn for further remarks.
