GOP refers Hunter Biden, James Biden to DOJ amid accusations of misleading Congress

GOP leaders overseeing the impeachment inquiry into President Biden have urged the Justice Department to bring criminal charges against the president’s son and brother, alleging that they misled investigators during discussions.

A House committee released a 65-page referral, accusing the relatives of withholding information in an effort to shield Joe Biden from impeachment scrutiny, although the matters in question have limited ties to the president.

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer emphasized that this move is just the beginning of holding the Bidens accountable.

The Justice Department and representatives for Hunter Biden declined to comment.

Democrats criticized the investigation, arguing that it has failed to implicate President Biden in any wrongdoing.

The report alleges that James Biden lied about his brother’s meeting with a business associate, which contradicted Hunter Biden’s testimony, The Hill has reported.

However, Hunter Biden clarified that the encounter was brief and inconsequential.

The report focuses largely on Hunter Biden, who faces separate legal challenges.

Republicans accuse him of dishonesty regarding his involvement in certain businesses and communications.

Hunter Biden denies any wrongdoing, attributing his actions to personal struggles. He maintains that his father was unaware of his business dealings.
