Gaza’s Rafah border crossing with Egypt reopened Monday for limited operations under the Israeli-Hamas ceasefire, restoring a key gateway that had been largely closed for nearly two years.
Movement is tightly restricted, with no commercial goods allowed and only up to 50 Palestinians permitted to cross in each direction on the first day.
The narrow reopening comes as tens of thousands of Gazans with urgent medical needs and many Palestinians stranded abroad seek access through the crossing.
Israel and Egypt are jointly vetting travelers with international oversight, while Israeli forces continue to control the corridor linking Rafah to populated areas of Gaza, Fox News has reported.
The reopening follows a U.S.-brokered ceasefire that began in October and halted more than two years of fighting, though broader political and security issues remain unresolved.
