Hundreds of protesters marched through downtown Portland on Sunday, shutting down roads while opposing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and calling for accountability in the January deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
The demonstration, organized by Portland Contra Las Deportaciones, began at City Hall and proceeded to the ICE facility in South Waterfront.
Video showed federal agents using tear gas, pepper balls, and flash bombs against protesters, prompting some to seek medical aid on‑site.
Oregon Governor Tina Kotek condemned ICE’s actions, calling them a “horrific abuse of authority” and demanding accountability, Fox News has reported.
The ICE facility, in operation since 2011, serves as a processing and office center for immigration‑related interviews and detentions, guarded by Federal Protective Service officers.
