Third person dies after Austin bar shooting

A third victim of a Texas bar shooting has died, bringing the death toll to three, Austin police said, with more than a dozen others wounded outside Buford’s beer garden on Sixth Street.

The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Jorge Pederson; the other fatalities were Ryder Harrington, a 19-year-old Texas Tech student, and Savitha Shan, believed to be around 24.

The shooter, 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Senegal, was fatally shot by officers shortly after the attack; he appeared to act alone and legally owned the firearms used.

Authorities are still investigating a possible motive, including potential links to terrorism, though early indications are inconclusive, NBC News has reported.

Texas officials, including Gov. Greg Abbott, offered condolences and cautioned against threats tied to current Middle East conflicts.
