The Irish government led by Micheál Martin survived a confidence vote after widespread fuel protests disrupted supply chains, blocked roads, and caused shortages across the country.
The vote passed 92–78, allowing the coalition to remain in power despite criticism from opposition parties, including Sinn Féin.
The protests, driven by truckers, farmers, and transport workers, were sparked by rising fuel costs and demands for tax cuts or price caps.
Martin defended the government’s response, including clearing blocked ports and introducing fuel support measures worth hundreds of millions of euros, the AP has reported.
Although the government remains in place, the protests highlighted deep public frustration over Ireland’s cost-of-living crisis.
