A 21-year-old Georgia National Guard member deployed in Washington, D.C., has been arrested for allegedly pulling a gun on a fellow Guard member.

Zion Mitchell was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm while committing a violent or dangerous crime.

According to police, the incident began during an argument over whether the soldiers’ hairstyles followed Army regulations.

Mitchell was arrested September 1 after the August 25 incident, and the Guard has not yet commented on his status, NPR has reported.

The arrest comes as the deployment of more than 3,100 National Guard members in Washington remains controversial, with critics questioning whether the troops have reduced serious crime.
