Charlie Kirk case stalls as accused shooter delays plea and eyes media limits

Tyler Robinson, accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk at a Utah Valley University event in 2025, returned to court as lawyers debated delaying his upcoming preliminary hearing.

The defense argued they need more time to review extensive evidence, including digital and forensic material, while prosecutors insisted there is already strong proof such as surveillance video, DNA, and alleged confessions.

Robinson’s team also sought to limit media coverage, claiming cameras could harm his right to a fair trial, but prosecutors and some media groups supported open proceedings.

The judge did not issue a ruling on delaying the case or restricting cameras, instead scheduling a decision for a later hearing in May, Fox News has reported.

Robinson remains charged with aggravated murder and could face the death penalty if convicted.
