China AI robot restaurant analyses diners’ faces, tongues to recommend health-focused dishes

Several restaurants in eastern China, particularly in Hangzhou, are using AI-powered robots to cook and manage kitchen tasks, drawing widespread attention online.

At one restaurant, robots handle everything from ordering and cleaning to preparing more than 100 dishes, even analyzing customers’ faces and tongues to recommend meals.

Supporters say the technology improves consistency, reduces costs, and has even led to cheaper meals for customers.

Chefs also report that robots ease workloads by automating repetitive cooking tasks while allowing humans to focus on quality control and menu development, the South China Morning Post has reported.

However, the trend has sparked debate, with some praising the efficiency and others worrying about job losses for human workers.
