Estonia has said it will again refuse to allow flights of officials traveling to Russia for Russia’s May 9 Victory Day parade to pass through its airspace.
The decision affects leaders such as Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico, who had planned to attend the event in Russia.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said the move is meant to avoid supporting an event that “glorifies aggression” amid Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Similar restrictions were imposed last year by Estonia and other Baltic states in coordination with EU and NATO allies, ERR News has reported.
The dispute highlights continued diplomatic isolation of Russia by much of Europe since its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
