Hungary’s Péter Magyar and his Tisza party expanded their parliamentary majority after the final vote count, securing 141 of 199 seats.
The result gives the party a strong supermajority, while outgoing leader Viktor Orbán and his Fidesz fell to 52 seats.
Magyar said the outcome gives him a mandate to pursue major constitutional and democratic reforms, with a possible swearing-in in May.
The victory could also help unlock billions in frozen European Union funds tied to rule-of-law conditions, Politico has reported.
European Union officials have already begun talks with Magyar’s team on reforms and financial support, including potential aid packages for Ukraine.
