Spanish PM urges EU to end association agreement with Israel

Spain plans to urge the European Union to suspend its association agreement with Israel, according to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

Sánchez said the proposal will be formally presented to EU partners, arguing that Israel is violating international law.

He stated that a country acting in this way should not maintain a partnership with the European Union.

The agreement in question has been in place since 2000 and governs political and economic relations between the EU and Israel, the Times of Israel has reported.

The move reflects Spain’s increasingly critical stance toward Israel over the past year.
