The U.S. military seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship, the Touska, after it attempted to breach an American naval blockade near the Strait of Hormuz.

Former President Donald Trump said the ship ignored warnings, prompting a U.S. destroyer to disable it and take control.

The vessel was already under U.S. sanctions for alleged illegal activity.

Iran condemned the incident as a violation of the fragile ceasefire and threatened retaliation, The Guardian has reported.

The confrontation has heightened tensions and cast doubt on future peace talks between the two countries.
