Delta Air Lines announced it will end food and beverage service on flights under 350 miles starting May 19, except for first-class passengers.
The airline said the change is meant to create a more consistent service experience across its network, affecting about 9% of its flights.
Some passengers on longer routes and in certain cabins will see expanded food and drink options under the new policy.
The update brings Delta’s approach closer to other major U.S. airlines, though policies still vary by carrier, CBS News has reported.
The change comes as airlines face higher operating costs, including rising fuel prices, and broader pressure in the aviation industry.
