North Korea says it tested new warheads, technology and navigation in latest launches

North Korea said it conducted new weapons tests involving multiple systems, including a nuclear-capable cruise missile it plans to deploy with front-line units near the South Korean border.

State media reported that leader Kim Jong Un supervised the tests, which also included ballistic missiles and advanced rocket artillery with upgraded targeting systems.

South Korea confirmed detecting several projectiles fired into waters off its west coast but did not verify North Korea’s claims about the full range of weapons tested.

Kim reportedly praised the exercises and called for faster modernization of North Korea’s artillery forces amid efforts to strengthen frontline defenses, NBC News has reported.

The tests come as Pyongyang continues expanding its military capabilities, deepening ties with Russia and China, and maintaining a hard line toward the United States and South Korea.
