Democratic Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton was confronted by an armed man who lunged toward her during a campaign event at the Canfield Fair near Youngstown on Sunday. 

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Patrick Havas, pushed through a crowd toward Acton, knocking several people to the ground and injuring multiple attendees.

Authorities said Havas was carrying two handguns and brass knuckles, along with a taser, although none of the weapons were drawn or removed from their holsters. 

Acton was not injured, and law enforcement officers quickly detained Havas, who was booked on charges including disorderly conduct and two counts of assault, Statehouse News has reported.

The incident is under investigation, while Republican opponent Vivek Ramaswamy, Gov. Mike DeWine and other officials condemned violence and threats at political events.
