Donald Trump’s labor secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has stepped down and will leave the administration for a private sector role, according to an official announcement.
Her departure follows multiple allegations of misconduct, including claims of an affair with a subordinate, alcohol use on the job, and misuse of government resources, which are under investigation by the department’s inspector general.
Additional reports also raised concerns about inappropriate communications within her office and serious allegations involving her husband, though no criminal charges have been filed.
Chavez-DeRemer praised her work in office and said she was proud of her achievements, while the White Housecommended her service, The Guardian has reported.
She is the third female cabinet member to leave Donald Trump’s second-term administration, with Keith Sonderlingnamed as acting labor secretary.
