Police investigate suspected arson attack at former synagogue in east London

Counter-terrorism police in London are investigating a suspected arson attack at a disused former synagogue in Tower Hamlets, possibly linked to an Iran-backed campaign.

The fire caused minor damage, and CCTV showed two hooded individuals deliberately starting it early Tuesday morning.

The building, once the East London Central Synagogue, has previously been targeted with antisemitic graffiti and holds cultural significance for the Jewish community.

Authorities are examining links to a series of recent attacks on Jewish sites, some claimed by a group believed to be connected to Iran, The Guardian has reported.

The incident has heightened concern and led to increased police protection and reassurance efforts for Jewish communities across London.
