House blocks Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s war powers resolution on Lebanon

The House rejected a war powers resolution that sought to limit President Donald Trump’s military actions in Lebanon, voting it down 324–92 after Democratic leaders opposed the measure.

The proposal, introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib, would have required the removal of U.S. forces from Lebanon within seven days of adoption, though Democrats argued a revised version was a better option.

Tlaib criticized U.S. involvement in the region, while Republicans countered that there were no active combat operations involving U.S. troops in Lebanon.

The debate became heated, with accusations exchanged on the House floor over terrorism and U.S. foreign policy, CBS News has reported.

The vote comes amid ongoing regional tensions and recent efforts to negotiate a fragile ceasefire in Lebanon.
