Ukrainian drones hit St. Petersburg oil terminal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian long-range drones struck an oil terminal in St. Petersburg, causing a large fire and sending smoke over the city.

The drones reportedly traveled more than 1,000 kilometers (600 miles), marking another deep strike inside Russian territory.

The attack came a day after Russia launched a major drone and missile assault on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv.

Russian authorities confirmed that infrastructure in St. Petersburg was targeted, and the city’s airport temporarily suspended flights while mobile internet services were disrupted, the AP has reported.

As the war sparked by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine enters its fifth year, both sides continue using long-range drone attacks to gain an advantage while front-line fighting remains largely stalled.
