Henry Nowak inquest to probe actions of police

An inquest jury will examine whether police actions or delays in medical treatment contributed to the death of 18-year-old Henry Nowak, who was fatally stabbed in Southampton.

Despite repeatedly telling officers he had been stabbed and could not breathe, he was arrested and handcuffed after his attacker, Vickrum Digwa, failed to reveal the stabbing.

A full jury inquest is scheduled for September 2027 to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Digwa was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years for the killing, the BBC has reported.

However, medical evidence presented at trial indicated that Henry’s injuries were so severe that he would not have survived even with immediate emergency treatment.
