Karmelo Anthony stabbing was a ‘sneak attack,’ prosecutors say

In the trial of Karmelo Anthony, prosecutors allege he fatally stabbed fellow student Austin Metcalf during a 2025 high school track meet in what they described as a “sneak attack.”

The defense argues Anthony acted in self-defense after Metcalf allegedly initiated contact and created a chaotic confrontation under a team tent.

Surveillance footage shown to jurors and witness testimony are expected to play a key role in the case.

Prosecutors say Anthony pulled a knife and stabbed Metcalf once in the chest before fleeing, while the defense claims he reacted in fear during an immediate threat, News Nation has reported.

Anthony faces first-degree murder charges and a possible life sentence if convicted.
